I've done this a little while ago after my first (of four or five times reading) journey through Diane Gabaldons Highland-Saga.

Jamie's red and Claire's curly brown drew me in immediately. I began looking for the dogs, tenants, and Jenny. As a reader I absorb the details in an effort to visualize the characters in situ as the story evolves. I am not certain I want to see the television series Outlander if it does not remain true to the author's creation.
When a writer can maintain so many readers' interest for a minimum of 850 pages or almost 1450 pages there is a skill not only of plot but of imagery to be respected. I suppose that is why we often have two groups of fans--one of the movie and one of the novel. James Bond perhaps being an exception. In any case, a tribute to Diane Gabaldon is a tribute well deserved!
